TEDTalk: Measuring what makes life worthwhile

When the dotcom bubble burst, hotelier Chip Conley went in search of a business model based on happiness. In an old friendship with an employee and in the wisdom of a Buddhist king, he learned that success comes from what you count.

I think this talk rises a few important points about which values we choose to measure, and then let dominate our decision making. Absolutely worth the 17 minutes. Enjoy!

GTD – Getting Things Done

The most popular productivity system in the world, developed by David Allen.

In (really) short, GTD is a system that allows you to collect all commitments you have floating around in your mind, inboxes or on your desk. The key is for you to trust the system to remind you of what you need to do, when you can actually do something about it. This way your own mind won’t constantly interrupt you while at work, only to tell you that you need to buy cat food. It also features a perspective dimension as well, enabling you to keep focus on what’s actually important.

To get a longer and way better introduction by David Allen himself, check out the video below.

Personally, GTD has changed my life for the better in many different ways, and I believe it can do the same for you. I’ll write a more detailed guide on how to implement it in your life when I have some more time.

To call this a productivity system is actually a severe understatement. It’s more of a life management system.

Stress less and get more done with the Pomodoro technique

Have you ever felt that you’ve spent an awful lot of time doing almost nothing? If you’re like most other people, the answer is definitely yes.

It’s difficult for our mind to fully concentrate on something if we’re constantly interrupted. And unlike what most people think, most of the time it isn’t other people interrupting us. We’re interrupting our selves.
